Strength and Conditioning

My name is Giovanni Miramontes, but I go by Gio. I was born and raised in Marin County, CA. I attended Saint Raphael’s Catholic School where I played volleyball during my middle school years, then went to Marin Catholic High School, where I played on the men’s football team all four years. After high school, I attended Southern Oregon University as a Health and Physical Education major. During my senior year at Southern Oregon University, I worked in the athletics department and then graduated in 2015. After college, I became an elementary school PE teacher for two years. During that time, I became a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. During my second year of teaching PE, I attended graduate school at Saint Mary’s College of California and received my Master’s in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness Management. I started a strength and conditioning internship with Saint Mary’s College Fall and had the opportunity to work with women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s softball, women’s rowing and coed cross country/track. I interned with the Sonoma State University Strength and Conditioning program where I worked with women’s basketball, men’s basketball, women’s softball and men’s tennis. Most recently, I started interning with City College of San Francisco where I currently work with football, baseball, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball and cross country/track. I am currently working to obtain my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification. In my free time, I love being outdoors exploring the local trails in Marin. I enjoy yoga and weightlifting. I am the second oldest out of five siblings and family means everything to me.
